AUTOSAR PduR: Zero-Copy Cross-Bus Message Routing across CAN-FD Channels
Configuring the AUTOSAR PDU Router (PduR) module for zero-copy DMA memory transfer between independent CAN-FD controller peripherals.
In modern vehicle architectures, cross-domain communication requires routing Protocol Data Units (PDUs) across multiple physical CAN-FD buses (e.g., Powertrain, Chassis, Body, and Infotainment).
The CAN Router architecture deploys dedicated Direct Memory Access (DMA) ring buffers coupled with hardware acceptance filters. When a CAN frame arrives on Bus A, the microcontroller's hardware message handler copies the 64-byte payload directly into a shared routing mailbox without triggering a central CPU interrupt. The AUTOSAR PduR routing engine evaluates the PDU ID against pre-compiled static routing tables, applying immediate priority queuing for onward transmission onto Bus B in under 85 microseconds.
