CAN to 100BASE-T1 / 1000BASE-T1 Ethernet SOME/IP Serialization & Gateway Bridging

Bridging low-bandwidth CAN-FD subnets to high-bandwidth Automotive Ethernet backbones using SOME/IP packing and signal-to-service translation.

As vehicles transition to centralized and zonal computing, local CAN-FD sensor subnets must transmit their signals to central HPC units over 1000BASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet.

The gateway router implements signal-to-service mapping: individual CAN signals (e.g., wheel speed, steering angle) extracted from cyclic frames are packed into Scalable service-Oriented MiddlewarE over IP (SOME/IP) payloads or DDS topics. The gateway buffers and serializes multiple signals into high-efficiency Ethernet frames, reducing network overhead while maintaining sub-millisecond synchronization.
